Qualifications for mayor: I have served on the Crawfordsville Common Council for 20 years and have chaired nearly every committee during that time. I also have served on the board of works and as deputy mayor, fulfilled the duties of acting mayor for a period in 1985. My education, my profession and my years of contact with both adults and youth have prepared me for this position, starting day one.

What is the best way to promote growth in the city?  I believe the city’s leadership should have a plan that shows specific direction for growth which includes established industrial, commercial, business and housing providers. The city leadership should always encourage in word, action and deed the positive direction for growth. We must, also remember the established city has needs, too – like infrastructure – that constantly warrants attention. We must not forget the citizens of Crawfordsville whatever their location or status in life.

In order, top three priorities: 1. I would establish quality, responsive leadership as first and foremost priority. Not only is leadership expected with the council but with the departments and the public.  Also we must not forget the citizens of C’ville must be more than adequately informed and acquainted with the plans and directions of the administration.  2. I have advocated that a referendum be offered to the votes in Nov 1922 on the issue of the proposed site and bonding for the Park and Recreation Center. Over the last 3 ½ years the present administration has done nothing to move this project forward. I saw this issue is one that must be examined by all the voters before continuing any further. 3. I have advocated a progressive plan of growth. This plan states, very simply, that growth is welcomed from new as well as already established businesses. However, I do not believe that growth should come to the expense of other governmental functions. We cannot forget the people – the ones who have given this city its character and roots. The balance of maintenance and growth must be kept all within the state mandated tax levy.
